We are planning to feature select tracks from the back catalog on a rotating basis as well so check back often if you want to sample some great pop from the label.

In other news, cool kids are talking about our latest releases and making some heads swell. Here’s a sampling of what a few are saying about the ‘Napoleon Sweetheart’ EP (matinée 070) from Northern Portrait and the ‘Susan’s In The Sky’ EP (matinée 069) from Bubblegum Lemonade:
070 sleeve

“Truly glorious stuff.” —Indie-mp3.co.uk

“Hearing the new Northern Portrait EP, “Napoleon Sweetheart”, one’s tempted to ask where the bloody hell they were in the late 80s, when we were all crying out for the new Smiths and being fobbed off instead with a plethora of anaemic, uber-ropey carbons…Northern Portrait are nigh-irresistible…this is pop deluxe.” —In Love With These Times…

“All four songs on this EP could have been the a-side of a single.” —Eardrums

069 sleeve

“Susan’s in the Sky is all ’60s pop, massive reverb and drones that is the best Jesus and Mary Chain song the Reid brothers never recorded.” —Aversion.com

“As great as Bubblegum Lemonade was when it seemed like Razorcuts and the Mary Chain reborn, it’s even better when it just sounds like Bubblegum Lemonade. This is a hit record with unobvious hits.” —Heaven Is Above Your Head

“Just Like You is the Mary Chain inspired tune that Glasvegas think they have made…Another wonderful example of pop music from the Matinée stable, a label that can do no wrong at present.” — Indie-mp3.co.uk

Northern Portrait are also establishing themselves as international radio favorites, earning ‘song of the week’ honors on Spanish National Radio, enjoying the spotlight on Gideon Coe’s show on BBC 6 Music, securing the coveted ‘song of the day’ spot on KEXP in Seattle, and (finally) getting exposure on Danish National Radio with four weeks in a row at #2 on the alternative chart Det Elektriske Barometer alongside biggies like Sigur Ros, TV on the Radio and Beck.

NORTHERN PORTRAIT – NAPOLEON SWEETHEART EP

Tracklisting:
1. I Give You Two Seconds To Entertain Me
2. Sporting A Scar
3. In An Empty Hotel
4. Our Lambrusco Days

Stunning second single from new Matinée favorites Northern Portrait! Upon release of their debut ‘The Fallen Aristocracy’ EP earlier this year, the accolades started pouring in for this new Danish band: “as perfect as jangling guitar pop can get”… “an instant classic”… “the bar has been set very high indeed”…“these songs are second to none”… “outstanding is an understatement”…“a modern pop classic”…“single of the year!” The EP has topped the Matinée best sellers chart every month since its release with good reason.

On the highly anticipated ‘Napoleon Sweetheart’ EP, the band worked to expand its sound slightly while retaining the classic appeal of its debut. The brilliant lead track ‘I Give You Two Seconds To Entertain Me’ was the second song ever recorded by the band but has been completely remixed and remastered for this EP. Featuring jangling guitars, keyboards, superb vocals and bright melodies, the song is a three-minute classic inspired by the feeling of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

‘Sporting A Scar’ is the first of three additional tracks on the EP—thematically close but more self-reflective than the lead track, with especially superb lyrics and more breezy keyboards. It’s another gem! ‘In An Empty Hotel’ is a short and catchy tune about the clash between hopeful dreams and the practical problems that can occur, while the nearly epic ‘Our Lambrusco Days’ is a slightly sentimental and warm ballad with relatively simple instrumentation and open guitar tuning giving the song a special sound.

Reviewers of the first EP rightly questioned how Northern Portrait could possibly follow such a strong debut single. The band has responded in brilliant fashion, as ‘Napoleon Sweetheart’ is another solid contender for single of the year. The bar has been set very high indeed. Limited to 1000 copies in custom minijacket sleeve.

BUBBLEGUM LEMONADE – SUSAN’S IN THE SKY EP

Tracklisting:
1. Susan’s In The Sky
2. Surfin’ USB
3. Just Like You
4. Holocaust

Scottish wonderkids Bubblegum Lemonade debuted early this year with an outstanding single ‘Ten Years Younger’ that earned song of the day honors on influential radio station KEXP and amassed countless positive reviews in the music press including favorable comparisons to influential 60’s popstars (The Velvet Underground, The Monkees, The Byrds) and 80’s indie legends (Jesus and Mary Chain, Razorcuts, Biff Bang Pow!). Before delivering the all important debut album, the band pause for a moment to release a spectacular second EP!

Title track ‘Susan’s In The Sky’ is an everyday tale of an air hostess and her slacker boyfriend caught up in a Romeo and Juliet type scenario. It’s another sunshine wall of pop with Rickenbacker guitars, tambourines and nice organ bits. A short dose of California sunshine perfect for all seasons.

Among the EP’s exclusive extra tracks, the cleverly titled ‘Surfin’ USB’ is a proper jangle with fuzzy guitars and a nice Beach Boys coda, while ‘Just Like You’ continues the California theme in a 150 bpm mini classic drenched in Mary Chain feedback with a mix of fuzz and surf guitars. Closing track ‘Holocaust’ is a superb cover of the legendary Big Star classic featuring a mix of Rickenbacker and acoustic guitars.

Once described as “the perfect C86 pop band that just happened to turn up 22 years behind schedule,” Bubblegum Lemonade deliver instantly memorable songs with brilliant pop melodies. ‘Susan’s In The Sky’ is another remarkable success for Matinée and a vibrant reminder of the essential new pop coming out of Scotland. Limited to 1000 copies in custom minijacket sleeve.

For band photos, soundclips, early reviews and more information please see the catalog and artist pages, or visit the Matinée and Bubblegum Lemonade pages on Myspace.

Both EPs are on all back to school shopping lists so stop by the order page or your favorite shop today! Both EPs should appear on iTunes shortly so if you’re after digital copies your wait is nearly over. New single alert

New single alert! We are thrilled to report that the already rich Matinée singles discography will become all the richer with two brand new EPs this summer:

069 sleeveFirst up, Bubblegum Lemonade follow the success of their debut ‘Ten Years Younger’ EP (matinée 064) with an even stronger second single, ‘Susan’s In The Sky’! This classic new EP (matinée 069) features four songs that practically ooze sunshine and should soon be the soundtrack to your summer. The title track is one of the best songs we’ve heard in a long while and a quick scan of our recent releases will demonstrate just what caliber we’re talking about. No sense describing it for you though as it’s just been added to the Matinée sounds page and is also featured this week on Myspace. ‘Susan’ will appear on the debut Bubblegum Lemonade album later this year, but the remaining three EP tracks—‘Surfin’ USB’, ‘Just Like You’ and ‘Holocaust’—are exclusive to this release and oh so essential. Three songs are Bubblegum Lemonade originals while ‘Holocaust’ is a cover of the legendary Big Star classic. The master has just arrived so it’s off to the pressing plant this week and we should have copies in hand by early July with an official release date later in the month. Look for your chance to preorder it in a few weeks!

070 sleeveAlso on course for release this summer is the superb second single from new Danish favorites Northern Portrait! Following closely on the heels of the debut ‘The Fallen Aristocracy’ EP (matinée 068), the brand new four track ‘Napoleon Sweetheart’ EP (matinée 070) is another solid contender for single of the year. Featuring the brilliant lead track ‘I Give You Two Seconds To Entertain Me’ along with new gems ‘In An Empty Hotel,’ ‘Sporting A Scar’ and ‘Our Lambrusco Days,’ the EP should see the light just after the Bubblegum Lemonade single in July. We are still waiting on the master to arrive so no promises on the release date just yet but you can listen to the lead track now playing on the Matinée sounds page and also this week on Myspace. It’s another hit for sure! The debut Northern Portrait EP is outselling everything else in the Matinée catalog for the third month in a row and we expect swift returns on this new EP too so watch the order page as we’ll start taking preorders for this in a few weeks as well.

hermit crabs In other top news, The Hermit Crabs play their very first US shows this month as part of the New York City popfest! They are on the agenda for the Sunday June 15th 2pm recovery BBQ and farewell show at Union Pool with Australian legends The Cannanes among others. See previous link for complete popfest details. The Hermit Crabs have also just confirmed a show in Boston on June 19th but we don’t have the details on that just yet so best to check the band’s Myspace page for details. Wow, they have a lot of friends don’t they? I wonder if all 6000 are going to these shows? Better get your tickets soon! The band is playing in support of last year’s debut album ‘Saw You Dancing’ (matcd046) which continues to collect fantastic reviews as evidenced on the catalog page. They are a treat on the live front too, so make plans to catch them on this all-too-brief US visit. If you’re lucky they may preview songs from their upcoming new EP. Hurrah for Scottish pop!

Northern Portrait – The Fallen Aristocracy CDEP

“The Fallen Aristocracy might just be the bittersweet, jangly guitar-pop album Smiths fans have been looking for since 1987. Where so many have tried to recreate all the tensions that made The Smiths’ songs timeless with little avail, Northern Portrait comes pretty close to finding the band’s secret formula.” —Aversion.com

“Northern Portrait are a brand new band from Copenhagen and are signed to that treasure chest of jangle pop Matinée Recordings. ‘Crazy’ is the lead song from their debut ‘The Fallen Aristocracy’ EP and if it could be bottled you’d have a fortune-making de facto happy pill on your hands.” —mp3hugger

“The title track is not just Northern Portrait’s strongest effort, but an instant classic. Taking its cue from Pulp’s retro pop grandeur, ‘The Fallen Aristocracy’ is eloquent and nervy and melodramatic, combining louche degradation with the slyly insistent pop of early 80s Factory. If they can build on this classic, then their debut album will be an essential purchase.” —Fire Escape Talking

“All four songs could have been the leading single-tracks here. I love everything about this EP—the sound, the guitars, the melodies, the vocals, the Smiths-influenced cover-art… everything. The opening track ‘Crazy’ is a modern pop classic.” —Eardrums

“I love the Northern Portrait ‘Fallen Aristocracy’ EP on Matinée. It sounds delicious. Uplifting, cascading guitars. You know the score. [They] remind me of the likes of Windmills and East Village and High Five and Hurrah! All those things that should mean a lot.” —Unpopular

“An auspicious and frustratingly brief debut–here’s to more!” —Press Play, Record

“The first few guitar riffs of Northern Portrait’s single ‘Crazy,’ sold me. The Danish group reminds me a lot of the Trash Can Sinatras… If you love melodious guitar action with brooding vocals (think Morrissey), you’ll love Northern Portrait!” —Spramp

067matinée 067
The Electric Pop Group – Sunrise CDEP

“It’s a joy to have [this] EP in my hands. Everything is in the right place, the monotone vocals, the beautiful guitars that allow the band to sound like the best bits of indiepop and shoegaze rolled into one. On ‘Summer’s Day’ we start with a gentle acoustic strum and it really does sound like the best moments of Sarah Records condensed into a wonderfully fragile 3 minutes and 40 odd seconds of pop heaven. Lovely stuff.” —Indie-mp3.co.uk

“Sunrise EP is the band’s first release on Matinée, and they do not disappoint this time either. Four jangly popsongs with everything we have learnt to love about The Electric Pop Group.” —Eardrums

“Then there’s third track, ‘Summer’s Day’: it would be possible, we suppose, to listen to it and not think of Brighter. What is laudable, however, is that ‘Summer’s Day’ is a hale, rather than a pale, imitation: it could almost be from Brighter’s ‘Laurel’ sessions at the White House the best part of 20 years ago, the lyrical wistfulness and world-worn sentiment ice-wrapped by acoustic guitars. It is, honestly, delish, and the ‘Sunrise’ EP is part of the Matinée renaissance.” —In Love With These Times, In Spite Of These Times

“The Electric Pop Group’s ‘Sunrise’ EP treads the type of ground that would have likely secured them a spot on Sarah Records in a different time. ‘This Is The Town’ grabs me the same way ‘Walk Away’ did just months ago, which means it won’t be letting go for a while.” —Skatterbrain

“I Could See The Lights picks up from where their debut LP left off – if anything the songs shimmers and glistens even more than their early recordings – recalling the very best of Sarah Records.” —Indie-mp3.co.uk

“A lovely mix of retro, ethereal strumming matched by airy and very cute lead vocals.” —Spramp

“I Could See the Lights establishes The Electric Pop Group as a sunny-minded indie pop band with all the classical influences.” —Aversion.com

065matinée 065
Strawberry Whiplash – Who’s In Your Dreams CDEP

“Hazy, dreamlike vocals are backed by a wall of static guitars in this up-lifiting and joyous release from Glasgow’s Strawberry Whiplash. It’s an EP which is easy to love with its hand claps, synths and simple harmonies all forming winding round echoing, reverberating guitars in these hip shaking gems, whilst the simple, almost childlike ‘My Day Today’ is pure pop perfection. Lovely stuff!” —Is This Music?

“Strawberry Whiplash sounds exactly like what you think it should taste like. Sugary layers echo with tambourine, electric organ and sing-song refrains of ba-da-ba. The EP evokes the innocent spirit of 1960s pop, and yet the whole thing’s awash in a sea of fuzzy guitars and minimalist, reverb-heavy drums a la The Jesus and Mary Chain. Clocking in at 11 minutes, there’s no room for filler. The songs are all A-sides.” —Ink

“Who’s In Your Dreams has echoes of the fuzzed up bands of Scotland’s past such as The Jesus and Mary Chain, Meat Whiplash and The Shop Assistants. The jangle pop chords of Jesse Garon are evident on ‘It Rains On Other Planets’. On the EP’s other two tracks you can clearly hear elements of girl fronted jangle pop bands of the era and on the twee-ish ‘Factory Girl’ singer Sandra sounds uncannily like The Shoppies Alex Taylor. This is an EP which wears its influences on its sleeve as well as being coming from the heart. Fuzzin’ well buy it!” —Indie-mp3.co.uk

“Who’s In Your Dreams is just a happy, gargling stream of revivalist ba-ba-ba’s, of gargantuan guitar melodies, of Bubblegum Splash-style thudding drum n’ bass, which peaks with the marvelous conceit where they use the ba-ba-ba’s, instead of the guitars, to do the melody in the break. But the real trick, of course, will be if Strawberry Whiplash can follow up this rather spiffing start with something else just as admirable. If they can, then there’s gonna be drama.” —In Love With These Times, In Spite Of These Times

“Who’s in Your Dreams is another serving of fun, uncomplicated pop. Sandra’s dreamy, Lulu-lite vocal style matches perfectly with Laz’s easy melodies, and she piles on the doo-doo-doos and bah-bah-bahs like whipped cream and cherries on his buzzy/jangly arrangements.” —Aversion.com

“Glasgow continues to churn out a constant stream of great sounding bands and for that we are all grateful. Strawberry Whiplash consists of just two people. Sandra sings and Laz plays the instruments. And together they take noise pop to a whole new level.” —Burning World

“Four little jewels that’ll stick with you all this summer. I know it’s only February, but their ‘feedback wall of sunshine sound’ and a song like ‘It Rains On Other Planets’ will disperse winter clouds and make flowers grow around your steps. Ten seconds were enough for me to fall head over heels.” —A Hipster’s Progress

064matinée 064
Bubblegum Lemonade – Ten Years Younger CDEP

“Bubblegum Lemonade’s ‘Ten Years Younger’ EP contains the kind of perfect pop songs, full of Rickenbacker jangle and unforgettable melodies, that you feel like they’ve been around for ever; not in a ‘heard it all before’ way, but rather from honing in on those essential elements that make pop music beautiful. Being from Glasgow comparisons to Jesus and Mary Chain and 53rd and 3rd are obvious and not unfounded, but this music seems to go beyond that and embrace the whole history of pop music in four perfectly formed and completely irresistible pop songs.” —Among The Aisles

“Ten Years Younger is wedged somewhere between the Smiths’ early recordings and the Velvet Underground’s ‘Loaded’, taking the best of both worlds. ‘Unsafe at Any Speed’ is a fuzz-drenched cocktail of surf music with a Dandy Warhol lemon put in for flavor.” —PopMatters

“Bubblegum Lemonade easily brings to mind the best of the Byrds, the mystical pop of the Velvet Underground and on tracks like ‘Unsafe At Any Speed’, the heavy reverb and production style of Jesus and Mary Chain.” —KEXP Song of the Day

“Highlight of Bubblegum Lemonade’s ‘10 Years Younger’ EP is probably ‘Unsafe At Any Speed’, their driving JAMC-ish journey down avenues of sixties-tinged indie-pop. Of course, the quality doesn’t end there: the EP, taking in the catchiness of its title track and, with ‘That Thing You Do!’, an excursion into covers territory, gently touches on a few different reference points, not least the way ‘The Tomorrow People’ very earnestly shadows Creation-era Razorcuts.” —In Love With These Times, In Spite Of These Times

“Ten Years Younger is the jangled up long lost cousin of The Velvets ‘I’ll Be Your Mirror’. An essential purchase for anyone with a jangle pop bone in their body – Bubblegum Lemonade have made a great EP that takes on board a lot of C86’s original reference points and created something of real beauty.” —Indiemp3.co.uk

“This charmingly lo-fi EP from Glasgow’s Bubblegum Lemonade is shot through with Jesus and Mary Chain super-fuzzed guitars. ‘The Tomorrow People’ borrows the 12 string chime from the Byrds’ early days, along with the steady drone of other early ’60s pop-psychedelic crossovers. ‘Unsafe at Any Speed’ and the title track play out more simplistic, like Velvet Underground two-chord jams skirting the edges of a driving, but equally naive beat.” —Ink 19

“The songs are an even split between Razorcuts and the Jesus And Mary Chain – superimposing jangly guitars and heartfelt vocals over a reverbed-out drum machine.” —IndiePages

Matinee on the radio

Heard us on the radio lately? We seem to have a few hits across the globe, with Gideon Coe of England’s BBC 6 Music spreading the good word about Northern Portrait and Strawberry Whiplash this week, Jim Gellatly of XFM Scotland selecting The Hermit Crabs in his X-posure showcase, and Spanish National Radio deejay Julio Ruiz continuing his firm support of all things Matinée on his Disco Grande program!

Also very cool is a Matinée special aired last month on Leigh Tran’s Tape Relay program in Australia, produced in conjunction with Alistair Fitchett of hip English pop culture website and indie record label Unpopular. The special showcases recent tracks from The Pines, The Lucksmiths, The Electric Pop Group, and The Hermit Crabs and you can listen to it archived here. It’s ace!

You know the tides are turning, however, when you start getting serious attention in the US as Bubblegum Lemonade recently have enjoyed courtesy of KEXP deejay Kevin Cole who selected ‘Ten Years Younger’ for KEXP’s monthly Music That Matters podcast (Vol. 91) and Song of the Day honors! KEXP is just starting to show some love for The Electric Pop Group and Northern Portrait too, while the equally cool WOXY has thrown its support behind recent releases by Math and Physics Club and Strawberry Whiplash! Move over, Mariah!

Northern Portrait & Electric Pop Group

If we do nothing else this year, we have secured our spot in the 2008 record books with brilliant Matinée debuts out today from our latest signings Northern Portrait and The Electric Pop Group! Following are the exclusive release details:

068 sleevematinée 068
NORTHERN PORTRAIT – THE FALLEN ARISTOCRACY EP

Tracklisting:
1. Crazy
2. A Quiet Night In Copenhagen
3. Waiting For A Chance
4. The Fallen Aristocracy

Magnificent debut release from new Danish trio Northern Portrait who are ready to take the world by storm with one of the strongest singles released by Matinée to date! The release has all the makings of a modern pop classic and, according to somebody in the know, will “shake the indiepop world to its very foundations.” The band lists indie legends The Smiths, Echo and the Bunnymen, and The Housemartins among its influences and they certainly should appeal to fans of these and other classic pop groups plus contemporary favorites like Math and Physics Club too.

Lead track ‘Crazy’ is the one that got the band noticed when it appeared on a newly-christened Myspace page late last summer. Written and recorded in a four-hour time frame which marked the beginning of Northern Portrait, the song was completed intuitively with absolutely nothing prepared until guitars plugged in. A mix of acoustic and electric Rickenbackers, the guitars jangle in all the right places recalling Smiths classics like ‘This Charming Man’, and the vocals fit the music perfectly. It’s a hit!

‘A Quiet Night In Copenhagen’ is the first of three additional tracks on the EP and sets the bar pretty high with more jangling guitars, nice tempo changes and other instrumentation. Short and to the point, the song is a fairly universal tale of a kind of voluntary outsiderism. ‘Waiting For A Chance’ is a bit slower and recalls the brightness of The Trash Can Sinatras or The Sundays if they had a male singer. The song features more of the characteristic Northern Portrait guitar sounds plus some nice keyboards. Final track ‘The Fallen Aristocracy’ is an ode to all romantics—bittersweet, but definitely more sweet than bitter. Using glockenspiel in addition to guitars, the song bounces along nicely and just might make the case of saving the strongest track for last.

This debut demonstrates amazing promise for a new band and leads one to wonder if the b-sides are this good just what does Northern Portrait have in store for its debut album?

THE ELECTRIC POP GROUP – SUNRISE EP

Tracklisting:
1. I Could See The Lights
2. This Is The Town
3. Summer’s Day
4. Come And See Me

Brilliant Matinée debut from popular Swedish band The Electric Pop Group. The quartet astonished everyone late in 2006 with a self-released debut album that came out of nowhere to make numerous year-end lists and earn countless favorable reviews including comparisons to legendary bands on Creation Records (Razorcuts, Primal Scream, The Pastels, Jesus and Mary Chain) and Sarah Records (The Sea Urchins, Another Sunny Day, Brighter, and The Field Mice). As one of many indie record labels that took notice, Matinée made contact with them just as they started work on new recordings last summer and this EP is the first fruit of those sessions. Especially notable given the band’s name, this EP also marks the addition of acoustic guitars to their repertoire.

The EP kicks off with ‘I Could See The Lights’, an incredible tune and one of the first new songs the band recorded following the success of its debut album. Guitars jangle, drums pound, keyboards chime…the song simply shimmers and will serve as a perfect summertime anthem even in the face of less agreeable weather. It demanded to be released as a single so here it is!

In addition to the lead track, the EP features three glorious additional songs: ‘This Is The Town’ is another chiming A-side, an infectious song that features prominent keyboards as the perfect counterpoint to three glistening guitar parts. ‘Summer’s Day’ is a showcase for the newly added acoustic guitar, a fragile song that is similar to and every bit as poignant as the classic track ‘For Always’ by Razorcuts. Finally, ‘Come And See Me’ employs keyboards to great effect, creating a mesmerizing and soaring hit that is an especially lovely way to end the EP for sure.

On this release, the band takes its sound—described by one esteemed music writer as “both studiously retrospective and thoroughly contemporary”—and expands it with added instrumentation and superb songwriting. The result is a modern indiepop classic and another sparkling addition to the Matinée discography.

Bubblegum Lemonade – Ten Years Younger CDEP

“Ten Years Younger is the jangled up long lost cousin of The Velvets ‘I’ll Be Your Mirror’. An essential purchase for anyone with a jangle pop bone in their body – Bubblegum Lemonade have made a great EP that takes on board a lot of C86’s original reference points and created something of real beauty.” —Indie-mp3.co.uk

“The songs on the EP are all infectiously catchy and good enough to make you want to break lampshades in unbridled euphoria. Hell yeah! It’s Bubblegum Lemonade!” —Luna Park 6

“Ten Years Younger features jingle jangle Rickenbackers and is total guitar heaven in the vein of early Primal Scream, Postcard Records, Biff, Bang, Pow! and the early Servants… Absolutely irresistable! More please!” —Pennyblack Magazine

“An unlikely balance between the murky reverb of early years Jesus and Mary Chain’s guitars and the simple sunshine pop of the ’60s, alluding to everyone from Phil Spector’s stable of talent to The Monkees, with a tiny dose of electronics thrown in now and then just to make things a little more unpredictable. Bubblegum Lemonade’s the perfect C86 pop band that just happened to turn up 22 years behind schedule.” —Aversion.com

“This EP is a pure gem, layered vocals, catchy harmonies, subtle feedback, everything’s there…Buy it now and get 12 minutes of youth back.” —A Hipster’s Progress

Strawberry Whiplash – Who’s In Your Dreams CDEP

“Who’s In Your Dreams? could have kept Sarah Records in cheap microphones for decades all on its own. It is a fuzzy delight, overdosing in sweet bah bah bah’s and drums that while pounded have a certain timedness.” —mp3hugger

“If you have not heard Strawberry Whiplash before you are in for a treat. They’re like the best bits of c86 rolled up into a decidely lovely ball of indiepop.” —Indie-mp3.co.uk

“Feels like a distant cousin to Jesus and Mary Chain’s classic ‘Just Like Honey.’ It’s just wonderful. Let’s have that full-length soon, eh?” —Ink 19

“Who’s in Your Dreams? is a perfect fuzzy pop song, with lots of tambourine, and more ba-da-bas per capita than most perfect fuzzy pop songs that I’ve heard in recent memory. I want to shirk all of my responsibilities and spend all of my spare time with it.” —Square Girls
